Malta, the Sunny European Island approximately 60 nautical miles from the Southern coast of Sicily has recently overhauled its residency law and by doing so is attracting a number of South African nationals to its shores. The recent changes allow Non-EU/Non-EEA and Non-Swiss nationals who are approved by Malta’s Tax Authorities to claim a special tax status on any foreign income received in Malta at a favourable tax rate of 15%. The benefits of living the Island’s life with the easy access to Europe has attracted a number of Non-EU nationals already.
