Maree Camilleri, a RE/MAX Malta employee at head office in St Julian’s, recently got the treat of her life when she landed a ticket to ‘Party in the Sky’ last July. The opportunity came about quite unexpectedly, as Maree explains. “Our company organised a ticket draw for two, with the intention of giving an employee tickets to party his or her way to Ibiza in unparalleled style. The first lucky colleague whose name was picked out of the bag could not travel and I went in as the second draw. It was such a surprise.”
The event was expertly organised by Ambassador Events, a company which often benefits from RE/MAX Malta sponsorship. Ambassador Events collaborated with the Maltese national airline Air Malta, to create something unrivalled and the first of its kind to start off here in Malta. Other countries have attempted this trip, but having a Maltese organisation setting it up with the national airline was a first ever. The organisational process and logistics were so complicated and lengthy that it took the organisers a full year of preparation to make it all happen without a glitch. Incidentally this was a very first ever direct flight to Ibiza from Malta via Air Malta, coordinated specifically to allow guests to ‘Party in the Sky’.
Maree describes how her trip developed, “Immediately after work I headed to the Malta International Airport to meet up with a bunch of friends whom I had enticed to join me. At the Departures Lounge we were welcomed by the organisers with a pre-party. Apart from helping us unwind and warm up to the party atmosphere, during this pre-party we could buy tickets for the drinks, and events planned for the future party days. Then we took off.”
To all intents and purposes this seemed like a normal flight, except for the fact that inside the plane, certain seats were blocked and there were so few passengers on board. “Soon after take-off, the plane’s interior transformed radically. Speakers popped out of the bag compartments, party lights replaced the regular operational lights and a full-blown party kicked off.”
As Maree recalls, it was all about dancing, lounging, sipping on wine and champagne, with a bar at the back of the plane to replenish empty glasses, and DJ Ruby up front, pumping out the music. The one-way flight lasted two hours, but time flew by incredibly fast. “While we were attending this ‘Party in the Sky’, we were practically unaware that we were actually on a plane in flight.”
Maree and her travel companions landed in Ibiza where the weekend itinerary included a spectacular Showers party and varied trips to Nikki Beach. “The annual Showers Party had just been held in Malta, thanks also to RE/MAX Malta which was the main sponsor of the party. So experiencing it again in Ibiza was definitely a blast. We also got to enjoy free entrance to Nikki beach which is one of ‘the’ places to be seen at in Ibiza. We enjoyed spending two mornings sunning ourselves there. Another limelight was the possibility of attending a ‘Foam & Diamonds’ party at one of the most popular clubs in Ibiza, ‘Amnesia’, with none other than Paris Hilton as deejay.”
It was a memorable few days during which Maree Camilleri met old and new friends, reunited with some long-lost connections and enjoyed herself thanks to this RE/MAX Malta initiative which spelt f-u-n all the way. “I am proud to work for RE/MAX – being an employee with this company is not just about the usual hard work schedule of run-of-the-mill tasks related to real estate, but also about being given such regular opportunities to experience new things in life and career”. RE/MAX is always affiliated with innovative projects and exposes its employees to regular activities organized by the mother brand.
A case in point is an upcoming event planned for next October when a group of 50 RE/MAX Malta representatives will join their counterparts from Europe in Rome for the 8th Edition of the RE/MAX European convention. This will involve more than 10,000 RE/MAX family members domiciled in European countries.
As Maree herself admits…..”This will be another experience I definitely don’t want to miss.”
